Many Colleges and Universities have become test optional within the past two years. See the list below for colleges in Oregon and their testing requirements for admission: (updated 10.5.23)
Eastern Oregon University: SAT or ACT score is not listed under freshmen application requirements, but could be submitted as part of an "Individual Admissions Review" if applicant does not meet minimum requirements.
George Fox University: "You’ll be considered for admission based on your GPA, either weighted or unweighted, so there’s no need to send us your SAT or ACT test scores."
Lewis & Clark College: "Lewis & Clark College adopted a test-optional admission policy in 1991 with the belief that standardized testing does not always accurately reflect a student’s true academic potential."
Linfield College: "Applicants for fall 2023 – fall 2024 start terms are not required to submit test scores to complete their application. Test scores will not be used in the admission, scholarship or financial aid process."
Oregon State University: "Oregon State University has a test-optional admissions policy for first-year students. You can decide to submit standardized test scores if you think they add something of value to our review, or you can choose not to submit them if you want us to focus more intently on your high school record and other supporting documents. The choice is yours."
Oregon Tech: "SAT and ACT scores are optional—you can choose to submit to enhance your application, but they are by no means required. SAT and ACT scores that are submitted will never penalize an applicant, but in some instances may improve chances of admission or presidential scholarship consideration."
Pacific University: "Pacific University Oregon is test optional. Students can decide whether to submit their ACT and SAT test scores as part of their application and should indicate their preference on the test optional question on their Common Application."
Portland State University: "Students who satisfy Portland State’s minimum curriculum and GPA requirements are not required to submit test scores."
Reed College: "Reed will neither require nor use testing results from the SAT or ACT in our admission review for the fall 2024 cycle."
Southern Oregon University: "At Southern Oregon University, we are test-optional! Our admission decisions are based on a holistic review of all information, both academic and personal, presented in your application."
University of Oregon: "Effective with applicants for fall 2021 or beyond, submitting scores from the SAT/ACT is now optional for admissions."
University of Portland: "For applicants applying for admission through Fall 2024, University of Portland is test optional. On your application, you will indicate if you would like your scores to be considered in evaluation."
Western Oregon University: "Submission of ACT or SAT scores is optional for first-year applicants. Students with a cumulative GPA below 2.74 are encouraged, but not required, to provide ACT or SAT scores."
Willamette University: "When you apply to Willamette, you can decide whether your standardized test results accurately reflect your academic ability and potential. If you choose to submit them, your test scores will be reviewed with other indicators of your academic ability. We adopted our test-optional policy following a yearlong study by our Faculty Admission Committee. It found that success in an academically rigorous college preparatory curriculum was a stronger predictor of success at Willamette than standardized test performance."
