Many Colleges and Universities have become test optional within the past two years. See the list below for colleges in Oregon and their testing requirements for admission: (updated 8.22.22)
Eastern Oregon University: SAT or ACT score is not listed under freshmen application requirements.
George Fox University: "Those aren’t required. We mean it! Spend that time applying for extra scholarships instead."
Lewis & Clark College: "Starting with the spring 2021 incoming classes, students applying to Lewis & Clark will not be required to submit test scores."
Linfield College: Applicants for spring 2022 and fall 2022 start terms are not required to submit test scores to complete their application. Test scores will not be used in the admission, scholarship or financial aid process.
Oregon State University: "If you elect to submit them, are never the sole or primary reason for an admissions decision; they are always considered in context and as supplemental information."
Oregon Tech: "Effective Fall 2021, standardized test scores such as ACT, SAT, SAT II, AP, or IB are not required. However, scores may be used to make up course deficiencies in the core subject requirements.Test scores in no way will penalize your admission review, but you're encouraged to submit them if you have them. If submitted, they will only be used to enhance your admission review and Presidential Scholarship consideration."
Pacific University: "Pacific University Oregon is test optional. Students can decide whether to submit their ACT and SAT test scores as part of their application and should indicate their preference on the test optional question on their Common Application."
Portland State University: "Submission of test scores is optional, and not required to receive an admission decision. PSU accepts the SAT and ACT tests. "
Reed College: Applicants may self-report SAT or ACT scores, but neither will be used in evaluation.
Southern Oregon University: "At Southern Oregon University, we are test-optional! Our admission decisions are based on a holistic review of all information, both academic and personal, presented in your application."
University of Oregon: "Especially for the 2021 applicant cycle, there is no compelling reason to take the tests. If you already took the test in the past and would like us to consider your scores, you can still choose to ask that we consider them. However, please note that we have purposefully created an admissions review process in which scores play little to no role."
University of Portland: "For applicants applying for admission through Fall 2023, University of Portland is test optional. On your application, you will indicate if you would like your scores to be considered in evaluation. Your application will not be at a disadvantage if test scores are not included."
Western Oregon University: "Submission of ACT or SAT scores is optional for first-year applicants. Students with a cumulative GPA below 2.74 are encouraged, but not required, to provide ACT or SAT scores."
Willamette University: "When you apply to Willamette, you can decide whether your standardized test results accurately reflect your academic ability and potential. If you choose to submit them, your test scores will be reviewed with other indicators of your academic ability. We adopted our test-optional policy following a yearlong study by our Faculty Admission Committee. It found that success in an academically rigorous college preparatory curriculum was a stronger predictor of success at Willamette than standardized test performance."
